We do not use the word “counseling” when referring to pastors. None of our pastors are licensed counselors.
Often when we face challenging situations, we can turn to family and friends for guidance. Sometimes the issues are more complex and it helps to talk to others. We may have questions about where God is in our difficulties.
Our pastors are available to listen and pray with you in pastoral conversation. We can also help you find a licensed counselor who is sensitive to your faith and right for you. We like to think of professional counseling as “coaching.” Family, marriage, parenting, health, grief and work/life changes can be hard. Counseling can “coach” you through tough times and give you skills to better cope with life challenges.
You play an important role in our Stephen Ministry. Here’s what you can do:
- Pray for God to bring hope and healing to hurting people through our Stephen Ministry.
- Accept care from a Stephen Minister during your time of need. God doesn’t expect you to bear your burdens alone.
- Tell a friend, neighbor, co-worker or relative who is hurting about our Stephen Ministry.
- If you are a good listener and a compassionate person, prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister.
If you are interested in speaking with a Stephen Minister, please contact the church office at (904) 268-5549.
Our pastors are available to assist you in finding a licensed counselor who will support and understand your faith. We keep a list of counseling resources so we can connect you to counselors with specialties or certifications in marriage and family, addictions, eating disorders and other needs. All pastoral conversations about your need for a counselor are confidential.
