Upward soccer is for players 3 years old through 8th grade. It is open to players of any skill or experience level from novice to experience players. Guided by dedicated coaches, players will gain skill and confidence and be guided in personal and social growth. Teams practice one day a week for one hour. Practices are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday at either 5:30 or 6:30 pm.
We offer two seasons. For 2017, registration for fall soccer begins in early July and runs through early August. After registering, players must attend an evaluation and sizing session on Saturday, August 5 from 8:30-11 :00 am. Fall season practices begin the week of August 21. Games begin September 9 and continue to October 28.
Spring season practices begin in mid March and games begin in late March and continue to the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Registration for spring soccer begins in early January and continues through early March.
Players are divided by age and gender. Divisions depend on the number of players registering. Normally, we have 3 year olds, 4 year olds, 5-6 year olds, 7-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds and 11-13 year olds. Age is determined as of August 31st. 9-10 year olds and 11-13 year olds teams will have a tournament to close out the season. All divisions will play outdoors.
Registration fee includes reversible jersey, shorts and socks. There is a discount for fall players who return for the spring season.
Shinguards are required for all players. Players will not be allowed to participate in games or practices without shinguards. Soccer cleats are recommended but not required. Some used shinguards and cleats have been donated and are available in the recreation office
Coaches and assistant coaches are always needed. If you have the desire to work with children and are available about 3 hours per week, we will ask you to complete an application and submit to a background check. Coach training is held before the season.
Scholarships are available in return for assistance in our concession stand or physical arrangements.
