Pastor Anna Scharbo
Anna Scharbo grew up in the Fort Lauderdale area. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religious Studies from Florida State University and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Anna is commissioned as a Provisional Elder in the Florida Annual Conference. She previously served as a pastoral intern at First UMC of Coral Springs and Rising Hope United Methodist Mission Church of Alexandria, VA, where she worked in ministries connecting the church to a nearby Elementary School and in outreach to unhoused persons.
Anna is as “Minister in Residence” from July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018. Her salary and housing comes as a grant from the Florida Annual Conference, which seeks to place pastors for one year in a vibrant congregation so they may experience effective lay and clergy leadership and ministries.
Anna works in the area of Serving Others through missions, Days of Service and our expanding outreach to the families of Crown Point Elementary School. She participates in preaching, worship leadership, pastoral care and leadership.
Anna is excited to be home in Florida and even more excited to serve the Mandarin UMC community. She is passionate about helping others experience the life-changing power of God’s grace. She firmly believes that God loves and wants to use everyone. Anna feels called to equip others for service. Besides preaching and leading worship, she is particularly enthusiastic about ministering to those with mental illnesses, the unhoused and hurting people in general.
In her free time, Anna loves to be with her friends (both two and four-legged), travel (she’s been to 7 countries and counting!), and to do just about anything related to the arts. She is a self-professed bookworm (she is especially fond of the Harry Potter series) and always appreciates new book recommendations.
