In the United Methodist Church, clergy, lay staff, and lay volunteers work together to guide the ministry and administration of our church. Mandarin UMC/Longleaf is blessed with strong and active lay leadership. Members of all ages are encouraged to participate. We currently have church officers ages 15-99.
There are a variety of ministries and functions with committees and boards for oversight. You can read about these opportunities here.
Those eligible to serve in leadership on a committee or board are:
- members of the church who are living out their commitment to support the church with their prayers
- presence (regular attendance at worship and participation in a small group for growing as a disciple)
- gifts (financial gifts—giving in proportion to one’s income, tithing or stepping up to the tithe), and
- service (volunteer service)
