Our Mission
Program Information
Staff will lead children and youth ranging from kindergarten to 7th grade through summer camp. The children are placed in age levels and led to various camp activities by a designated Crew Leader. Most activities are led by a Station leader and crew leaders are often the second adult to assist with activities. Three stations: Peace room, Playroom and Game room, are led by crew leaders through planned activities for each group.
We are hiring for the following positions:
- Camp Specialist: This position is part of the Administration team of summer camp. This individual would help with program preparation and implementation, staff supervision, and additional camp administrative needs. This position would work closely with the Summer Camp Co-Directors.
- Station Leaders: : We are looking for Station leaders for the follow stations: Outdoor/Indoor Games, Art & Expressions, Bible, Character Counts, and Imagination Station (Science, Engineering & Technology).
Station Leaders will prepare & implement lesson plans for each age group. Weekly themes will be in place to help with that preparation. Station leaders will receive additional resources to supplement activities.
- Crew Leaders: This position will lead students from grades K-7th with a focus area of one of the following: K-1st, 2-4th or 5th – 7th.
Crew leaders will lead their groups to various stations and support station leaders as needed. In areas without a station leader, crew leaders will be responsible for implementing activities.
All staff members will help with additional areas of coverage throughout the day.
Additional areas of coverage include Weekly Assemblies & Morning wakeups, Praise Time Live, Tech/Audio/Video, Lunch and Snack time coverage and daily arrival and pick-up times.
Basic Requirements
Employees must be willing to teach Christian principles and faith-based curriculum as approved by the Program Administration of Mandarin/ Longleaf UMC. All employees will display an appropriate attitude for working in a Christian environment and a willingness to minister to the children and fellow staff.
Staff will need to be available for the following dates listed below. Staff Trainings are mandatory, and all staff must attend. Please note that time off is available during the camp weeks.
- May 26-28 Station Leader training & curriculum development
- June 1-4 All Staff Training and Prep week
- June 7 Church Service and Final Prep
- June 8 – July 31 Camp weeks
- August 1 Camp Clean-Up

Application Process
Those interested in being part of the summer camp team should complete an application and submit application to MUMC Church Office Attn: Summer Camp or your completed application to summerdaycamp@mumc.net .
- Applications are available now and applicants will be contacted by April 15th to set up a interview.
- Returning staff will need to fill out the application for returning staff and indicate all availability.
- Applicants will be notified by Friday, May 1st on the status of your application.
- Those applicants who are hired for a position will need to complete all employment forms within 2 weeks of the job offer date. All forms and screening must be completed before your first day of training. Screenings need 5 days to return.
- Those who are not offered a position will be notified as well
