Update from the Relaunch Team

Dear Church Family,
The year 2020 has caused businesses, governments, schools, and even churches to adapt to the ever-changing needs we find ourselves in. Mandarin UMC/Longleaf Church is no different.
The Mandarin/Longleaf Relaunch Team reassess the effectiveness of our current plan every two weeks. Moving forward among phases should be done gradually, so that we have time to accurately assess the impact of any changes made.
We are required to follow mandates from the federal government, state of Florida, and The Florida Annual Conference of the UMC. Longleaf Church also follows the guidelines and expectations of the St. Johns County School District and Freedom Crossing Academy.
Some protocols will be in place if we do find out that there is someone who tested positive at one of our campuses. We will restrict use in that particular area, disinfect, and keep that area free of foot traffic for a 24-hour period.
If we have more than one lockdown in a two-week period, we will close that particular space for two weeks and assess how we will proceed making people safe.
When evaluating why an activity may have been unsafe, we consider 5 CDC indicators for transmission of COVID-19:
  • Consistent and correct use of masks
  • Social distancing to the largest extent possible
  • Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette
  • Cleaning and disinfection
  • Contact tracing in collaboration with the local health department.
Fortunately, we have only had one incident where we had to close a part of the campus and this occurred before we began relaunching live in-person worship services! You have done an incredible job! We want to continue that with social distancing, hand hygiene, cleaning and wearing masks.
If you have any questions, you can reach out to a pastor and we would be more than happy to talk with you.
Grace and Peace,
The Mandarin/Longleaf Relaunch Team
